Dedicate a Machzor (High Holy Day prayerbook) in Honor or Memory of a Loved One For many years, Temple Beth El has used Gates of Repentance, the beautiful machzor (High Holy Days prayerbook) published in 1978. When we returned in 5783/2022, we made the decision to celebrate the New Year with a new machzor, called Mishkan HaNefesh (published in 2015), which offers timely and relevant liturgy, embraces different ideas of God, provides full transliteration, presents contemporary poetry and alternative readings, and more. Mishkan HaNefesh is published as a set, with one volume for Rosh HaShanah and one for Yom Kippur. This year you can add a dedication nameplate to a set of our new Mishkan HaNefesh machzorim with your loved ones’ names. You can dedicate books in honor of a birth, wedding, graduation, anniversary, birthday, or other simcha (happy occasion) with a meaningful contribution to our congregation, or honor loved ones you are remembering during this time of year. For $54, your loved ones’ names will be added to a nameplate in a set of Mishkan HaNefesh machzorim (two volumes, one for Rosh HaShanah and one for Yom Kippur). An example of these nameplates is below. You can also place an order for Mishkan HaNefesh nameplates only by calling our office. Please submit the name(s) of your loved ones and friends ($54/per set of nameplates) by Monday, September 30 for the machzorim to be completed in time for Rosh HaShanah.
