BEEMa is our Madrichim training program for eighth graders interested in serving as madrichim in the Religious School (teaching assistants) or in the B'nei Mitzvah program (tutors). BEEMa meets during regular Religious School hours from 9:00-11:15am on Sunday mornings. Participants in BEEMa will meet together to explore and discuss topics such as leadership skills, child development, discussion leading and program planning. Throughout the year, BEEMa participants have the chance to try out different grades and program areas, as well as work together on projects to benefit the whole Religious School. BEEMa participants who are eligible to serve as B'nei Mitzvah tutors will also tutor one period on Sunday mornings. The year will culminate with BEEMa running a special morning of programming for the entire Religious School.
BEEMa Requirements: Attendance: Our Religious School faculty and students, as well as our B'nei Mitzvah students, rely on madrichim. We expect madrichim to commit to consistent attendance and communicate absences with their supervisor. In preparation for that responsibility, BEEMa participants are asked to communicate absences to their coordinator by email. Involvement in Jewish Life: One way to serve as a role model to younger students is by personally being active in Jewish Life. BEEMa participants must enroll and attend Hebrew High for at least one trimester during the year. Compensation: BEEMa on Sunday morning is a volunteer program. Following the completion of BEEMa, high school students will be eligible to be paid for serving as Religious School and B'nei Mitzvah Madrichim on Sunday Mornings. BEEMa participants can earn money this year by working at 11:30am on Sundays or during the week to assist in Hebrew groups, or tutor b'nei mitzvah students during the week. Opening Day: BEEMa will begin on the first day of Religious School, Sunday, September 10. Questions can be directed to kkaplan@templebethel.org
