Mitzvah Day is a day of Tikkun Olam, repair of the world. Be a part of a very special day when our Temple Beth El family performs mitzvot throughout the community.

 

Schedule for Mitzvah Day

  • 8:30 am - Join us in the David Silverman Social Hall for a bagel and a shmear!
  • 9:00 am - Opening Ceremony and send off by clergy to a day of Tikkun Olam! Complete projects in Shalom Park and at various offsite locations. Register below!
  • 11:30 pm - 1:00 pm - Frozen Yogurt Social and Shmooze sponsored by the Temple Beth El Youth Engagement Committee, (YEC) and TCBY. Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch and picnic blanket! We hope that you will join us as we gather together to swap stories and photos of the meaningful experiences we have had throughout the day. Don't forget to take photos and post them via #tbeclt.

Waiver Information

All participants must agree to this waiver in order to participate in any Mitzvah Day project. By checking the box below, you are agreeing with all of the terms of this waiver. If you are under the age of 18 and you will be participating in a project on your own, a parent or guardian must complete the Adult Consent box found below the waiver.

I/We understand that I/we am/are spending the day as a volunteer on projects organized by Temple Beth El in connection with its Mitzvah Day activities held in conjunction with other non-profit organizations in Charlotte. I/We understand that in consideration for my being allowed to participate in the Temple Beth El Mitzvah Day activities, I/we are responsible for my/our behavior and I/we will only perform volunteer work that I/we feel comfortable doing. Further, I/we agree to release Temple Beth El, its officers, directors and employees from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, liabilities and expenses resulting from or arising from any personal injury of property damage which I/we may suffer or incur in connection with my/our participation in Mitzvah Day. I/We do hereby grant to Temple Beth El the unlimited right to use and/or reproduce photographs of my/our child in any legal manner and for the internal or external promotional and informational activities of Temple Beth El. I/We also agree to allow my child to be photographed by representatives of the external news media and TBE photographers in relation to any and all coverage of TBE in which they are involved. I/We also agree to allow my child’s photograph to be published on the TBE Internet/Intranet Web Page. I/We further understand that by signing this release, I/We waive any and all present or future compensation rights to the use of the above stated materials.

Now that you have read the project description.......

  1. Select the category (Open to All Ages, Parents and School Age Children Ages 5+, or Adults and Teens 12+)
  2. . Once your category has been selected, a dropdown menu of all of the projects in that category will open. Choose the specific project you are interested in that category from the dropdown menu. 
  3. When your registration is complete, you should receive an email confirmation that lists the category and the project you selected. If your confirmation email does not list the specific project you are interested in, please contact Sue Hummel so she can be sure to add your specific project preference to the project roster. 

Your captain will email you a few days before Mitzvah Day with any other project details. See you at the temple on Sunday, May 6.  Breakfast starts at 8:30 am! Opening Ceremonies begin at 9:00 am!
