In response to the current war in Israel, we have made changes to our upcoming adult education course about Israel. Rabbi Micah Streiffer will still be teaching the online course and has generously offered to shift the focus of the class to reflect the current conflict. This new, 3 session course, will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss the Israel-Gaza war through a lens of historical context.

As the war in Israel and Gaza continues to unfold, we might be asking ourselves, or others might be asking us, how did we get here? Join Rabbi Micah Streiffer to explore together some of the various narratives, histories and events that have defined the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the rise of Hamas and the evolution of the map of Israel/Palestine.

Rabbi Micah Streiffer has served as a congregational rabbi for 15 years. He started his rabbinic career right here at Temple Beth El, serving our congregation from 2007-2011. Since 2011 he has been the rabbi of Kol Ami, a congregation outside of Toronto. Rabbi Streiffer is in the process of launching LAASOK, an online learning community for liberal Jews.

This series is made possible by the Ahavat Medinat Yisrael  (Love for the State of Israel) Endowment established by Sam and Emily Zimmern.

Tuition is $36/student for members and $54/student for non-members.
